Zachary is sick. He has red painful bumps on his shins known as Erythema Nodosum. It is affecting his ability to walk.

Back Packs

Back Pack Smack Pack!!! Arrgghh!! We are on our 3rd back pack of the year. We had a nice Land's End one that the seams came apart the 5th time he used it. Next was the orange one with wheels that the zipper broke on from Wal*** that has lasted the longest. Now we have a cheap one from Wal**** We have gone through so many due to the fact that Zachary's school DOES NOT issue lockers to the students. He is having to carry all the things he would normally use a locker for in his back pack. This causes the pack to tear or the zipper to break rendering the back pack useless. There is an interesting story behind all of this. The details are sketchy. If you ask the school you get one story. If you ask someone that had their older kids there when all of this went down you get the real story. For years we had lockers in school with no issue. Suddenly because of children and their naughtiness we are with out lockers. Why must things be so difficult. If anyone has any ideas on how to make these last longer please let me know.

Zachary is well and looking forward to Christmas.

I need to ask for help. Due to our recent/current financial situation with our home, we are in need of help with Christmas for Zach. We are really struggling after having to borrow money from family to have our home pulled from foreclosure. We got the call last night that they are NOT going to sell our home Dec 2, 2008. While we are going to have our basic needs met, Christmas is going to require some help. It hurts me that I am not able to provide this Christmas.

We have been truly blessed by this family making this offer to us.

I would like to thank one of Zach's followers for adopting our family for Christmas. The Taber Family. They have blessed us beyond what words can express. Zachary has is currently unaware of all of this. If you see him on a regular basis at school we ask that you help us keep this secret. He will know, in time, what has been done and given to our family. This act of kindness will be returned someday to a family in need. I am humbled by the Taber's act of kindness.

Cardiologist appointment UPDATE

Hello all,

Things are going well here. Zachary is doing well. This crazy Texas weather has caused him a little extra congestion but he is doing great.

He will not be going to the Cardiologist next week. His school nurse has been taking his blood pressures every day for 3 weeks now and they have been wonderful. Well with in the normal limits for a child his age. After consulting our regular pediatrician we have decided together to further watch Zachary before gong to the Cardiologist. Our pediatrician and I suspect that he has white coat fever. This happens when a person gets anxious upon going to the Dr. Office. In his regular environment Zachary's pressures are good but when he is presented with going to the Dr his blood pressure gets out of control.

Things are looking up a little financially for us as of today. I got a new job that is full time and pays $1 more an hour. I will start the new job on Dec.7.

Our appointment

We have an appointment with the pediatric cardiologist on November 25th at 2:00. He will be seeing a doctor at a practice that is one of the top pediatric cardiologist in Texas. I will post updated pictures of Zachary after I get over this bronchitis.

Update

I will be scheduling Zachary's appointment with the cardiologist this week. I am in need of a BP machine for him. If anyone knows where I can get one or has a pediatric BP monitor they can donate please let me know. He has a history of high BP. The pediatrician wants us to go since his BP has been high over a period of time. I will post again as soon as I get the appointment.

Prayers Please

Please go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/zacharyathompson and pray for my son. He is having quite a bit of pain and now he has a fever that is climbing even on Tylenol and Motrin.

He needs lots of prayers. They said this was Mono and I am starting to doubt that. Please see the photo section to look at the "thing" on his neck. I will blog more when I get him well. Trust me I have tons of material now that he has been ill and I have been missing sleep and stressing.
